Logging in and out of Laminar

How to sign in, handle common login issues, and safely sign out.

Signing in to Laminar

When you first open Laminar, you begin at the sign-in screen. This is the gateway into the workspace where you’ll access suppliers, components, orders, projects, and everything else your organisation manages.

The sign-in page is intentionally simple so you can get started quickly. You only need two things:

  • Your email address
  • Your password

Enter both and click Sign in. If your organisation uses Laminar for multiple teams, you may be asked to verify your email format or confirm which environment you’re accessing. Most users, however, sign in directly and land in the main Laminar workspace.

If the system doesn’t recognise your credentials, you’ll see a small message on the sign-in form so you can retry without refreshing the page. Passwords are case-sensitive, so double-check capitalization if you run into problems.

Tip Bookmark your Laminar login URL so you can reach the sign-in page faster each time.

When sign-in succeeds

Once you successfully sign in, Laminar loads the full application shell:

  • The sidebar appears on the left
  • The top bar shows search, New actions, and your profile avatar
  • The main content area displays your starting module

Depending on your role and setup, Laminar may take you to:

  • A default module (often Suppliers, Components, or Orders)
  • A pre-set landing screen defined by your admin
  • The last module you visited previously

From here, all normal navigation features become available immediately.

Incorrect credentials or errors

If sign-in fails, Laminar displays a clear message on the sign-in form. Common situations include:

Wrong password

You’ll be prompted to try again. If you continue to have trouble, use your organisation’s process for resetting credentials or ask an admin to update your password.

Wrong email

If the system doesn’t recognise your email, check for typos or confirm you’re using the correct business email address registered with Laminar.

User exists but has no organisation assigned

If your account exists but hasn’t been attached to any organisation yet, Laminar will redirect you back to sign-in with a message indicating that access isn’t available. An admin must assign you to an organisation before you can sign in fully.

Note Your account must belong to at least one active organisation to access the workspace.

Switching organisations after signing in

Some users belong to multiple organisations (for example, companies with multiple operational units). Laminar supports switching organisations without signing out.

To switch:

  1. Click your avatar in the top bar.
  2. You’ll see an Organisations section listing all the orgs you have access to.
  3. Click the one you want to switch to.

Laminar updates instantly:

  • Lists reload with that organisation’s data
  • Search results align with the selected organisation
  • New creations apply to that organisation

If you regularly use more than one organisation, you can mark one as default. This ensures Laminar opens that organisation each time you sign in.

Tip Use clear naming conventions for organisations so you can recognise them easily when switching.

Signing out

When you’re done working, it’s a good idea to sign out—especially if you’re on a shared device.

To sign out:

  1. Click your avatar in the top bar.
  2. Select Sign out from the menu.

You’ll return to the sign-in page. Signing out ensures that:

  • Your session is cleared
  • Organisation-specific data is no longer visible
  • Your account remains secure

It’s quick and safe, and it guarantees that others cannot access your workspace.

Automatic sign-outs

Laminar may occasionally sign you out automatically. This can happen when:

  • Your permissions or roles were changed by an admin
  • Your organisation access was updated
  • Your session token expired
  • The browser was inactive for a long time
  • Laminar detects a situation where it must refresh your authentication state

If this happens, you’ll be sent back to the sign-in screen with a short note explaining why. Simply sign in again to continue working.

Tip If you were in the middle of something, use your browser’s history to return to the same module after signing back in.

Understanding organisation access

Every Laminar user belongs to at least one organisation, and all of your data is shown based on that organisation. This includes:

  • Suppliers
  • Components
  • BOMs
  • Orders
  • Projects
  • Products
  • Activity history
  • Reports

When you switch organisations, you’re effectively switching the “scope” of the entire app. Everything from lists to search results changes to match the selected organisation.

If you only belong to one organisation, Laminar automatically uses that one and hides any organisation-switching options.

Troubleshooting sign-in and sign-out

Below are the most common issues users run into and how to resolve them:

“My email works but my password doesn’t.”

Try re-typing your password slowly or check whether caps lock is on. If needed, contact your admin to reset it.

“I signed in, but I was immediately signed out again.”

This usually means your account doesn’t have an organisation assigned. Contact your admin to verify your setup.

“I can sign in but I see fewer modules than my colleagues.”

Modules appear based on roles, so you may not have access to everything that others do.

“I switched organisations but I still see old data.”

Ensure that the organisation you clicked is highlighted. Try refreshing the page if the change didn’t apply immediately.

“I’m signed out randomly.”

If you’re working across multiple tabs, close tabs you’re not using. Your admin may also have changed your permissions.

Best practices

  • Sign out anytime you’re leaving your workstation unattended.
  • Keep your login URL bookmarked for faster daily access.
  • Switch organisations before searching for or creating data so the correct information appears.
  • Use the avatar menu for all account-related actions—everything is organised in one place.
  • If something looks off, sign out and back in once to refresh your session.
