Using order reports
Use the Reports module to explore order performance and drill into details. Why Reports matter
Order Reports help you understand how material moves through your organisation—what’s been ordered, what’s pending, what’s delayed, which suppliers are most active, and how different projects or products are progressing.
Whether you’re a procurement manager, project lead, or operations coordinator, Order Reports give you a clear, consolidated view of all order activity, helping you make informed decisions without digging through individual records.
This guide explains how to access Order Reports, how to interpret them, and how to use filters, charts, and insights to monitor procurement performance.
Where to access Order Reports
The Reports module appears in the sidebar for users who have access. To open it:
- Click Reports in the sidebar
- You’ll land on the Order Reports dashboard (Laminar 1.0 focuses on orders-first reporting)
You can also enter through Global Search by typing “Reports” or “Order Reports”.
What the Order Reports dashboard shows
Order Reports is structured into clear sections so you can quickly understand the state of your procurement pipeline. Depending on your configuration, you may see:
- Overview metrics
- Visual charts
- Breakdown lists
- Status summaries
- Filters
- Project-wise or product-wise views
The dashboard presents the most important information first, with drill-down options where needed.
Key metrics you will see
While the exact layout may evolve, the dashboard typically includes:
Total Orders
The total number of orders within the selected time range or filter.
Orders In Progress
Orders currently being processed by suppliers.
Delivered Orders
How many orders have been fully received.
Pending Deliveries
Orders where delivery is expected but not yet completed.
Cancelled Orders
Orders that were created but later cancelled.
These numbers help you understand workload, progress, and potential bottlenecks at a glance.
Status Breakdown
A dedicated section summarizes all orders by status:
- Created
- In Progress
- Delivered
- Cancelled
Colour-coded blocks make it easy to scan the distribution. This helps identify concerns such as too many pending orders or delays in moving items from Created to In Progress.
Visual charts (varies by release)
Order Reports typically include charts such as:
Orders Over Time
Shows when orders were created, helping you understand procurement cycles or peak periods.
Delivery Performance
Highlights how many orders were delivered on or before the expected date.
Supplier Activity
Breaks down how many orders are associated with each supplier.
Project or Product Distribution
Shows how orders are spread across projects or products—useful for evaluating material flow.
Charts make it easy to spot patterns, spikes, or gaps.
Filtering data
Filters appear prominently at the top or side of the dashboard. These may include:
- Date Range
- Status
- Supplier
- Project
- Product
Applying a filter updates all metrics and charts.
Common use cases for filters
- View only orders associated with a particular project
- Check supplier loads for planning discussions
- Review orders over a specific timeframe (e.g., this month)
- Analyse delivered vs pending performance
Filtering makes reporting flexible and targeted.
Viewing underlying orders
Most report sections let you drill into the actual orders that make up the numbers.
For example:
- Clicking “In Progress” shows a list of all orders currently in progress
- Selecting a supplier name shows all orders placed with that supplier
- Drilling into a chart segment opens a filtered view
Lists typically show:
- Order number
- Supplier
- Status
- Expected delivery date
- Linked project or product
You can click any order to open its detail page.
Supplier-focused insights
Order Reports help answer questions like:
- Which suppliers are receiving the most orders?
- Are certain suppliers consistently delayed?
- Are we over-relying on one vendor?
- How many orders per supplier delivered on time?
These insights help procurement teams plan vendor conversations and evaluations.
Project and Product insights
Reports can also highlight:
- How many orders are linked to each project
- Which product lines require the most procurement effort
- Which initiatives are driving material cost and volume
- Whether a project is lagging due to pending orders
This is especially useful for engineering and project managers.
Using reports day-to-day
Here’s how teams typically use Order Reports:
For Procurement
- Keep track of pending deliveries
- Identify high-volume suppliers
- Follow up with vendors proactively
- Understand ordering trends
For Project Managers
- Monitor material readiness
- Track incoming items against deadlines
- Assess risks due to delayed orders
For Operations
- Forecast workload peaks
- Prepare internal teams for upcoming builds
- Validate whether procurement timelines align with production
For Leadership
- Get high-level overviews
- Spot trends
- Evaluate supplier performance
Order Reports support both hands-on daily work and strategic decisions.
Best practices
Use filters to stay focused
Filtering by status or supplier helps you zero in on what matters now.
Check reports daily for pending deliveries
It ensures follow-ups happen on time.
Use project or product filters during planning
These give the clearest view of what’s required next.
Track supplier patterns
If certain vendors are frequently delayed, escalate early or adjust planning.
Cross-check expected vs delivered
Helps keep delivery timelines aligned and reduces fire-fighting later.
Troubleshooting
“My reports look empty.”
Possible causes:
- No orders match the selected filter
- Date range too narrow
- Wrong organisation selected (check your user menu)
“Charts aren’t showing.”
Your account may not have access to visual report features.
“An order is missing from the report.”
Check:
- Whether the order has the correct organisation
- Whether it’s linked to the correct project or product
- Whether you applied a filter that hides it
“Supplier names look duplicated.”
Your organisation may have multiple suppliers with similar names—open them to confirm details.
